Employee at Mitsubishi Electric UK – Building Manufacturer-Level Engineering Expertise

Before founding Therma-Dynamics Ltd, Nathan Draper spent over six years working within Mitsubishi Electric Living Environmental Systems (LES), one of the world’s leading manufacturers of advanced heating and cooling technologies. This period played a fundamental role in shaping Nathan’s technical depth, diagnostic ability, and quality-driven approach that now defines his work today.

Working across both field engineering and manufacturing quality roles, Nathan developed an extensive understanding of air source heat pump systems, refrigeration technologies, and large-scale HVAC product quality — experience that now directly benefits every Therma-Dynamics customer.

Aftersales Technical Services Quality Engineer

October 2019 – August 2022

In this role, Nathan moved beyond field engineering into the manufacturing and technical quality environment, working closely with UK and international teams to maintain product standards and resolve complex technical issues.

He developed exceptional expertise across Mitsubishi Electric’s product range, including RAC, PAC, Lossnay ventilation, City Multi systems, domestic heating products, and chiller technologies. Responsibilities included analysing failed or incorrectly operating equipment, identifying root causes, and reporting technical findings directly to manufacturing and research teams.

Key areas of responsibility included:

  • Advanced fault analysis and investigation into system performance issues
  • Interpretation of warranty and test data to identify potential quality concerns
  • Strategic planning and management of factory re-work programmes to ensure 100% accuracy and operational efficiency
  • Coordination of multiple teams, including logistics, subcontract engineers, Japanese re-work specialists, and third-party suppliers
  • Reporting technical findings through structured manufacturing reporting systems to support product improvements
  • Producing detailed technical reports and monitoring data for manufacturing analysis
  • Supporting customer-facing investigations and attending technical meetings to resolve complex issues
  • Managing workshop compliance, annual asset audits, and health and safety responsibilities
  • Supporting spare parts, warranty, and technical teams with specification changes and technical clarifications
  • Developing strong cross-department relationships across sales, procurement, logistics, quality, and international teams

This role provided Nathan with a deep understanding of how HVAC products are designed, manufactured, tested, and improved — insight that is rarely gained outside of a manufacturer environment.
